Back in primary school we used to have life skills lessons every Thursday afternoon. Everyone used to love these classes, they were a break from our normal lessons, they were fun and interactive and we got the chance to mingle with other students. Not only are life skills educational, fun and interactive, they equip us with the necessary set of tools for our everyday life.

What are Life-skills?

“Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable humans to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of life.” In every stage of life, we are faced with challenges that demand a different kind of approach from us. Being able to know how to navigate through these changes and new environments is key in determining how we respond to them. They say that life is “1 percent what happens to you and 99% how you respond to it” Life Skills help you respond in a more positive and adaptive manner.

Nawiri Centre for Health and Wellness has organized online workshops specially targeted towards teaching on specific life-skills. The skills to be covered will be:

  1. Problem-solving

Appreciate the key elements, common pitfalls and important steps for optimal problem solving.

  1. Personal Branding

How other people perceive us especially on a formal level is a point of concern and it largely depends on us. Participants will learn how to create a positive personal brand.

  1. Money Management

“I don’t know where my money went” is a common song many people sing. This is not because they did not have money, but because they didn’t use the money wisely. Optimal use of money is not about what one has, it’s about what one does with what they have. We will take you through principles of how to be a better custodian of and effectively manage your money.

  1. Effective Communication

Human beings are social animals and as such we need to relate well with others for our survival and ultimate enjoyment of life. Good communication and how to express oneself is important for mental wellbeing and for enriching our social relationships.

The workshops will be starting on the 15th of August to the 22nd of August. Charges are KES 500 per day for pre-teens and teens, and KES 300 for parents.

Fitness is a key element of overall wellness and so we include Zumba in our programs.  To participate do reach us via 0705629474
